Madison, NJ – April 14, 2011 – Brinton Eaton, a wealth advisory firm based in New Jersey, today announced that Chief Investment Officer Jerry Miccolis will be participating in a panel discussion, “Implementing State-of-the-Art Portfolios,” at this year’s Financial Planning Association (FPA) Retreat on May 4, 2011.
In his presentation, Mr. Miccolis will recount his firm’s journey to advance the science of risk management within client portfolios, and outline the challenge facing the financial planning industry today.
“As an industry, we are entering a new era—one in which wealth management and risk management are one and the same,” said Mr. Miccolis. “We must think outside of the box to create the next generation of portfolio design and protection.”
Mr. Miccolis’s presentation will focus on necessary improvements to Modern Portfolio Theory, dynamic asset allocation, and “safety net” portfolio protection. He will discuss technical enhancements, such as new asset modeling techniques and momentum-based investment strategies, as well as practical applications of “tail risk hedging,” including efficient ways to deliver catastrophic risk protection to client portfolios.
Mr. Miccolis, who specializes in financial planning, risk management, investment research, and portfolio management, holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner, and is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS). He also is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), the Financial Planning Association (FPA), and the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA). He is co-author of Asset Allocation For Dummies® (Wiley 2009).
The FPA retreat, held in Bonita Springs, Fla., brings a select group of financial planners together to focus on advanced education and pushing the boundaries of financial planning.
