Madison, NJ – April 5, 2011 – Brinton Eaton, a wealth advisory firm based in New Jersey, announced that Jeremy Welther, Principal and Senior Financial Advisor, has been named President of the National Association of Personal Finance Advisors’s (NAPFA) Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Region Board of Directors.
As president of the NAPFA regional board, Mr. Welther will lead the group in promoting the benefits of fee-only financial planning advisors. “NAPFA helps investors to understand that when they hire a fee-only advisor, they are getting objective advice that is suited to their specific needs. Advice provided by commission-based brokers or advisors, on the other hand, may be unduly influenced by financial incentives rather than sound financial planning,” says Welther.
Mr. Welther will also help NAPFA communicate to investors that planners must meet strict criteria for membership, including holding such qualifications as Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Certified Public Accountant/Personal Financial Specialist (CPA/PFS) and NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor.
At Brinton Eaton, Mr. Welther specializes in financial planning, investment research, portfolio management, and tax planning. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, and holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary™ designation by the Center for Fiduciary Studies.
“We are very proud that one of our own is leading such an important organization. NAPFA members are among the best-qualified professionals in the financial planning industry, as recently reiterated by Consumer Reports, and we are honored that Mr. Welther will be leading the charge in the Northest and Mid-Atlantic region,” says Robert J. DiQuollo, President of Brinton Eaton.
