MEDIA ALERT
When, not if, the next unexpected financial crisis hits, is your portfolio protected? Does your investment manager have the right new risk management strategies and tactics in place? Or will you be as unprepared as you were for the last market crash?
WHO: Jerry Miccolis, CFA®, CFP®, Principal and Chief Investment Officer at Brinton Eaton, a wealth advisory firm in NJ, and author of Asset Allocation For Dummies® (Wiley, 2009), is a pioneer in the field of enterprise risk management. He has spent over 35 years managing and exploiting financial volatility, including so-called Black Swan events.
WHAT: Miccolis will offer a presentation highlighting the risk management improvements necessary for the wealth management industry to successfully deal with the extremely uncertain future.
WHEN & WHERE: Thursday, Nov. 4, the National Association of Personal Financial Planners (NAPFA) Connections Conference in Boston.
PRESENTATION:
- Following a brief and interactive tour through the evolution of Modern Portfolio Theory – the conceptual framework underlying the science of asset allocation – Mr. Miccolis will focus on needed improvements to portfolio management ranging from technical areas such as more realistic risk measures and models to immediately implementable enhancements such as dynamic asset allocation and “safety net” portfolio protection.
- Mr. Miccolis will outline Brinton Eaton’s journey and lessons learned over the last two years. This includes the development and implementation of a unique, new approach to portfolio protection, which costs little, kicks in automatically, and does not create portfolio performance drag.
“Despite well-publicized fears to the contrary, Modern Portfolio Theory isn’t dead, it just needs to quickly take the next evolutionary steps – to better deal with the new realities of a hyper-connected and fast-moving global economy,” said Mr. Miccolis. “Our industry is in a race against time to improve our preparedness for the next unpredictable market catastrophe.”
